Earth Day 2014-Grand Opening of the Special Waste Collection Center

The City of Elk Grove now has a place where residents can deliver all of their household hazardous waste to be disposed of properly! The Special Waste Collection Center located at 9255 Disposal Lane near the intersection of Highway 99 and Grant Line Road is open for business!

Students from Curiosity Films attended the ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies, volunteered to run the activities in the kid zones, played games, and walked home from the day with cedar trees and other eco-minded swag!

Students Dominic Agrella, Genevieve Sterns, and Naomi Weir delivered remarks at the ribbon cutting, wowing dignitaries such as Mayor Gary Davis, Council Members Steve Detrick and Robert L. Trigg, and U.S. Congressman Ami Bera.

Also officially unveiled was the 5 1/2 minute film produced by Curiosity Films students educating residents how to properly package and transport their household hazardous waste to the facility!
